THREE Bridges manager Paul Faili believes the "season starts now" after back-to-back 3-0 defeats against the top two sides in Ryman League Division One South.
Bridges faded in the second half at Salters Lane on Saturday, conceding three times in the second half to slip to defeat against second-placed Faversham.
But Faili was not too downbeat, admitting his side had put up a good fight despite missing three first-team players in Lee Carney, Allan Tait and Callum Donaghey.
Faili said: "You can look at it and say we've lost the last three games, but East Grinstead aren't being beaten at the moment and we've lost to Burgess Hill and Faversham, first and second in the league.
"What can I say? They're both very good sides, both looking to win the league this season.
"We can start our season again now.
"To lose three massive players is never going to help a side and they are a big factor for us.
"To lose those three regular first-team players right the way down the middle is always going to make a difference."
Faili also said that his team were "too nice" in the Faversham defeat and that they might have to change to pick up a few more results.
He added: "We have to possibly learn how to cheat a game.
"We're too honest at Three Bridges, we don't go down screaming when we get tackled, we're men, we stand up and we'll have a toe-to-toe with anybody, we're too nice.
"I think now we've really got to start to dig in, we're probably 15 points away from being safe, from seventh, eighth down to probably third from bottom is a battle right now.
"I don't think I've ever known it as tight as this.
"The top two are having a run off, third and fourth are linked in, and the last play-off place will be contested between two or three sides, but if I get to a decent mid-table level, around tenth, that is one hell of a season for Three Bridges.
"The boys played fantastically well in the first half, they worked so hard effectively to keep Faversham out of the game really, I don't think we had a shot in the first half, but what we did do is we frustrated them and that was good.
"Faversham notched it up a gear in the second half and, when their full-backs punched on, we got overrun a bit and we paid the price."
